God is in the details

I was working on a spreadsheet to budget my monies,
And I found PROOF MATH IS A BIG LIE! All this time
I've trusted the holy perfection of math, and now, I'm
so confused and lost!

If my bi-weekly check is $666, and my monthly bills
are $1000, why doesn't

"bi-weekly check minus half of monthly bills"
equal
"two times bi-weekly check minus all monthly bills"?

666 - (1000/2) = $166

and (666*2 = 1332) - 1000 = $332*

dammit! SATAN! I cast you out of my equations!

Why has God abandoned me in my time of mathematical
need?

*Notice 166 is FOUR TIMES as small as 332 DOUBLED....
Hmmmmmm.....

Any Help?

    From my bubby Eric:

    Not to be snarky, but I would say God in this case is Time, as this is
    a time-based equation.

    ie

    PartyRemainder = (totalMonthIncome x currentMonthPercentage) -
    (totalMonthexpense x currentMonthPercentage)

    Week 1 (assuming a 4 week month)

    PartyRemainder = (1332 x .25) - (1000 x .25) : PartyRemainder = $83

    Week 2

    PartyRemainder = (1332 x .5) - (1000 x .5) : PartyRemainder = $166 (or
    $83, if you have already spent your PartyRemainder from week 1)

    Week 3

    PartyRemainder = (1332 x .75) - (1000 x .75) : PartyRemainder = $249

    Week 4

    PartyRemainder = (1332 x 1) - (1000 X 1): PartyRemainder = 332

    So PartyRemainder is consistent over time, it is just really
    (TotalPartyRemainder x currentMonthPercentage) at any given time.

    -=-=-=-=

    So everybody (two people) seem to think this is all about time...
    hmmm.... and now that I look at it, I guess they are right.
    Satan is a tricky lil devil, sower of mathematical discord and
    evil ledgers.

    thanks you smart guys!

    Dear Benzilla,

    It is amazing how long it took me to work out this math (very troubling). Court is right, though, party money is only half as much in two weeks as it is in four (Damn math)!
